A Cajun pop-up with a southern drawl!
Ron Green is a U.S. Navy combat veteran and former national security professional with a profound passion for the southern foodways, especially as it relates to the Louisiana culinary traditions and craft BBQ.
A Louisiana native, Ron's upbringing on a small farm north of Natchitoches cultivated a profound affection for subsistence agriculture, animal husbandry, butchery, food preservation, and, foremost, the culinary arts. This laid the foundation for his pop-up, “La Petite Boucanière” (boo-kahn-yair), Cajun French for “the little smokehouse”.
Actively engaged in both the veteran and culinary communities, Ron is working closely with the New Orleans Culinary and Hospitality Institute (NOCHI) and the Tulane University Center for Brain Health (TUCBH) towards the establishment of a culinary therapy program for veterans and their family members.
Above all, Ron cherishes nothing more than engaging in culinary pursuits alongside his daughter and business partner, Ellie Grace.
Our competition BBQ team, Squeal Team Six, is comprised of military veterans and their family members who are paired with world class chefs and award winning pitmasters for a culinary competition experience like no other.
Squeal Team Six is made possible through the support of the Tulane Center for Brain Health, the New Orleans Culinary & Hospitality Institute, American Patriot Holdings, Dean Equipment, Pinkerton’s BBQ, Cackle & Oink BBQ, Envie Catering, NOLA Boards, The Great Pig in The Sky, and Chef Justin Ferguson.
Squeal Team Six‘s premier competition event is Hogs for The Cause, held annually in New Orleans, Louisiana.
